Difenacoum

Difenacoum is a synthetic compound that is a derivative of 4-hydroxycoumarin class f anticoagulants.

Difenacoum is a synthetic compound that is a derivative of 4-hydroxycoumarin class f anticoagulants. Difenacoum, along with brodifacoum, bromadiolone and difethialone, is one of the second-generation of anticoagulants of rodenticides developed to deal with the wafarin resistance that had developed in many European rodent species (rats, mice). Difenacoum is a multi-feed  compound thatcan be used indoor and outdoors.  Difenacoum acts with a single dose and acts by effectively blocking the vitamin K cycle, thereby preventing the formation for vital blood clotting factors.  Difenacoum is absorbed through comsumption and stomach activity. It is particularly lethal to brown rats and mice. Due to the potency of Difenacoum in rodents compared to non-target species it is favoured for domestic and farm environments where other animals and pets are around.
