Picloram is a synthetic plant growth regulator,  of the pyridine family, and is a chlorinated derivative of picolinic acid. Picloram is a selective herbicide absorbed through the leaves and roots of target plants and is translocated throughout the plant.  Picloram acts  specifically an auxin-mimic, meaning it imitates the growth promotion action of the plant hormone auxin, causing uncontrolled, disorganised growth ultimately leading to vascular tissue disruption and plant death.  Picloram is used to control unwanted woody species and is particularly effective against pernicious/troublesome weends such as Mugwort, dockweeds, thistles, bramble and Japanese Knotweed.  Picloram is persistant and does not adhere to soil particles, care should be taken to avoid leeching. It is not used on crop land, but rather road sides, railway sidings , under power lines, motor way verges and other unused open land. Picloram is also sold in premixed with either 2,4D or clopyralid.

Agchem Access sells picloram in combination with clopyralid as the Brand Legara. For picloram alone, or in combination with 2.4D please contact Agchem Access directly.
