Tebuconazole is a broad spectrum fungicide with curative, preventative and eradicant action on plant fungal pathogens. Tebuconazole is a systemic fungicide which is quickly absorbed into plant tissues when applied as a foliar spray and translocated within the plant. Tebuconazole is effective against smut and bunt diseases if applied as a seed treatment fungicide. It is particularly effective against a wide variety of mildrew, rust and leaf spot diseases, such as Alternaria spp., Blumeriella spp., Botryosphaeria spp., Botrytis spp., Cercospora spp., Curvularia spp., Erysiphe spp., Exobasidium spp., Fusarium spp., Helminthosporium spp., Hemileia spp., Leptosphaeria spp., Monilinia spp., Mycena spp., Mycosphaerella spp., Phakospora spp., Podosphaera spp., Puccinia spp., Pyrenopeziza spp., Pyrenophora spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Rhynchosporium spp., Sclerotinia spp., Sclerotium spp., Septoria spp., Uncinula spp., Venturia spp. etc. Over 90 different crops ar suitable for treatment with tebuconazole, including cereals, soft and stone fruits, nuts, vegetables and rice. Tebuconazole acts by binding with and inhibiting the action of the enzyme 14-alpha-demethylase, preventing the demethylation of a precursor to ergosterol, a major component of fungal cell walls, thereby preventing growth. Tebuconazole is sold as a emulsifiable concentrate, emulsion (oil in water), suspension concentrate, suspo-emulsion, water dispersible granule and a wettable powder.
Chani is the Agchem Access branded name of Tebuconazole, sold as a 250 g/l oil in water emulsion. This is suitable for treating barley (spring), barley (winter), cabbage, carrot, field bean, horseradish, leek, linseed, oats (spring), oats (winter), oilseed rape (spring), oilseed rape (winter), parsnip, rye, swede, turnip, wheat (spring).
