Pirimicarb

Pirimicarb is a selective insecticide belonging to the group of chemicals called carbamates. Pirimicarb is used specifically to target aphids (blue alfalfa aphids, pea aphids and spotted alfalfa aphids)and is applied as a foliar spray to infested plant material.

 

Pirimicarb is a selective insecticide belonging to the group of chemicals called carbamates. Pirimicarb is used specifically to target aphids (blue alfalfa aphids, pea aphids and spotted alfalfa aphids)and is applied as a foliar spray to infested plant material. It reacts on contact, or with the stomach contents of the target organisms. The mode of action of pirimicarb is that it inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE), there by disrupting the neural pathways of the insect. Pirimicarb is approved for application on a huge variety of crops, including apples, barley, blackcurrants, broad beans, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbages, calabrese, carrots, cauliflower, cherries, chinese cabbages, collard, cucumbers, durum wheat, dwarf french beans, field beans, gooseberries, kale, lettuces, maize, oats, oilseed rape, ornamental plant production, parsnips, peas, pears, peppers, potatoes, raspberries, redcurrants, runner beans, rye, strawberries, sugar beet, swedes, sweetcorn, tomatoes, triticale, turnips and wheat. Pirimicarb is supplied as a 50% w/w (500 g/kg) water dispersible granule (WG). It can also be bought premixed with lambda-cyhalothrin.
